#SEDolor24 Congress

Event Summary

The 20th National Congress of the Spanish Pain Society (SED) was held in León from 29 to 31 May 2024, held at the modern Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones. The event, called #SEDOLOR24, offered an innovative scientific programme aimed at both young congress participants and experienced professionals. It addressed advances in pain research, treatments, and controversies, with input from leading national and international experts, as well as emerging talents.

The event included a series of practical workshops, including those on neurostimulation implant techniques, opioid use, radiofrequency courses, roundtables, symposia, and keynote lectures. In a nod to artificial intelligence, the event explored applications such as virtual and augmented reality, ChatBot software in training, and patient care.

Virtual Reality and Chronic Pain: New Technological Solutions

The Immersive Oasis team was pleased to be invited once again to present immersive solutions and participate in several talks on digital health and pain management.

At this 20th National Congress of the Spanish Pain Society, we have been able to share with the public the transformative potential of Virtual Reality as a means of offering unique solutions for pain relief and rehabilitation. These include:

• • • • Pain distraction: immersive and calming atmosphere to reduce stress and anxiety in a relaxing setting.
      • The ability to make the experience more engaging and enjoyable with fun mini-games that encourage movement and improve mobility.
      • The ability to tailor therapy sessions to each patient’s needs and collect data to enhance treatment plans and outcomes.

These form the basis for the development of applications that are already being implemented in collaboration with public entities such as Badalona Serveis Assistencials and the University of Castilla-La Mancha. These institutions are committed to using innovative technologies to improve patient outcomes and facilitate closer communication between healthcare professionals and patients.
