The CECOEC 2024 meeting: Active Ageing

We were recently honoured to be invited as one of the exhibiting companies at the CECOEC meeting, which focused on active ageing. It was a privilege to share this space with other companies that, like us, are committed to improving the quality of life of the elderly through innovative solutions.

We showcased an interactive Virtual Reality (VR) App that includes a range of activities to encourage movement, thus helping to improve the physical condition of people with mobility difficulties or chronic pain, and to increase physical activity levels in residential setting. These activities are not only entertaining, but also have a positive impact on the health and well-being of users.

Additionally, we presented a selection of 360º Virtual Reality videos designed to provide immersive experiences for relaxation and entertainment. Visitors to our stand were able to enjoy virtual tours of iconic European cities, relaxing beaches and snowy mountain landscapes. These experiences are designed to transport users to enchanting places, providing moments of peace and enjoyment from the comfort of any location.

General Aspects of the Meeting

On 18 and 19 June, the Asturias Luis Adaro Exhibition Centre hosted the “Active Ageing, Care and Innovation Meeting” as part of the CECOEC project. The event was divided into three main areas: a conference for Long-Term Care professionals, a public exhibition area showcasing specialized research and products, and workshops for people over 60. These workshops covered a wide range of topics including sports, digital skills, first aid, dance, nutrition, and more. The meeting’s philosophy focused on promoting active ageing, encouraging innovation in long-term care, and improving the quality of life of older adults.

How do Digital Therapies contribute to active ageing?

Immersive Digital Therapies are transforming active ageing by offering personalized solutions for physical training and exercise tailored to each user’s needs. Using specialised applications and virtual reality devices, we can create therapies that adapt to individual physical capabilities, promoting mobility and strength safely and effectively. Virtual Reality provides immersive, relaxing, and motivating environments, making exercise more appealing and allowing older adults to engage in a variety of physical activities in a comfortable and safe environment.

Some key factors in using Virtual Reality for digital therapies:
        • Distraction: Immersive and calming environments to reduce stress and anxiety.
        • Focus: The ability to make the experience more engaging and enjoyable with fun mini-games that encourage movement and improve mobility.
        • Accessibility: The ability to tailor therapy sessions to each patient’s needs and collect data to improve treatment plans and outcomes.
